In today’s digital landscape, advertisers are becoming increasingly selective about where they place their ads. With the growing importance of brand safety, audience engagement and ROI, the quality of a website plays a critical role in attracting and retaining top-tier advertisers.
Advertisers rely on Mediavine to send them high-quality inventory, and we’ve developed one of the most comprehensive application processes in the industry, guaranteeing high-quality sites and the best ad inventory.
Below are a few questions that we often hear that should shed some light on the process of applying with Mediavine, what we look for in an application, and what you can expect from the process along the way.
How long does it take for the Mediavine application and review process?
While each application is unique, our team typically provides a response to an application within 2 to 3 business days.
Who reviews the application?
The Mediavine Marketplace Quality department is a team of six trained experts who have a thorough understanding of what makes a site a great fit for Mediavine and the advertisers that work with us.
Each site is vetted by a minimum of two members of this team, where they look at the site’s content, appearance and formatting to ensure that the site meets our quality standards and that ads will work well within the site’s existing design.
How do I get started?
You can apply online by providing us some background information and allowing Mediavine “read only” access into your Google Analytics (GA4).
We use GA4 to get a better understanding of where and how users are interacting with your site so we can gauge how successful we will be in monetizing your audience. Some of the things we look for when reviewing GA4 are:
- Total sessions for the last 30 days, ensuring the site hits our threshold of 50,000 sessions in the last 30 days
- Where the traffic is coming into the site from. Is the traffic coming from search, social networks, newsletters or elsewhere?
- The main geographic locations of the site’s audience
- The browser and devices that users are using to engage with the site
- The most popular pages of the site.
- How long the average user stays on the site, and how many pages they view in a visit
Does Mediavine use any other tools in reviewing my site?
Mediavine partners with several third-party companies that review each site and its content. Many of these tools are the same tools that advertisers use when vetting a site list.
By using the same quality tools as the advertisers, we take proactive steps to ensure we are aligned and that the advertising inventory we are sending their way is safe, clean and has an engaged audience.
Is there anything I can do to help the process go as smoothly and as quickly as possible?
Safelist our domains in your email client
Add “publishers@mediavine.com” to your contacts and/or safelist those domains in your email client. This will ensure our communications don’t accidentally end up in your SPAM folder.
Fill out the application completely and accurately
Be sure to fill out the application completely and accurately. If you miss details or provide inaccurate information, it may slow down the review process, as we’ll need to correct that information before moving forward.
If you have multiple sites, fill out a separate application for each site
If you are hoping to bring multiple sites on board, we require that you submit each site individually. Each site is vetted individually, and each site goes through its own set of vetting procedures.
Have a privacy policy page on your site
One of the most important things advertisers will look for when evaluating your site is a privacy policy on a dedicated page, which is also linked in the footer on your website.
Have an “About us” page
When applying for Mediavine, having a well-crafted “About us” page shows advertisers that a site is legitimate and professionally managed by a real human. This makes the site a more attractive platform for their ads.
